MainWP Article Uploader Extension
Upload articles in bulk from TXT or CSV files and publish them to the child sites you pick.
Bulk upload articles and publish them to your child sites from your MainWP Dashboard
The MainWP Article Uploader Extension is a Pro MainWP add-on that lets you bulk upload articles to your MainWP Dashboard and publish them to your child sites. Upload separate TXT files, or import many articles at once from a custom-formatted TXT or CSV file that also sets each article’s slug, categories, tags, author, status and target sites.
What the MainWP Article Uploader Extension replaces
Without the extension, you add articles to each site individually and set the categories, tags and author every time. With the MainWP Article Uploader Extension, you load a batch of articles into your Dashboard once, check or edit them, and publish them to the child sites you pick.
MainWP Article Uploader Extension features
| Feature | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| TXT upload | Upload several .txt files at once. The first line of each file becomes the title and the rest becomes the body. Then choose post or page, allow or disallow comments, enter categories, select child sites and publish. |
| TXT and CSV import | Import many articles from one or more TXT or CSV files. Add the [NEW] tag after an article to start the next one in the same file. |
| Article fields in the import file | Set TITLE, POST TYPE, AUTHOR, CATEGORIES, TAGS, SLUG, BODY, EXCERPT, STATUS, ALLOW COMMENTS and ALLOW PINGBACKS for each article. Categories and tags take several comma-separated values. |
| Custom fields | Add custom field values to an article with CUSTOM_<METAKEY>: <value> lines in the import file. |
| Site targeting per article | The SITES line sends an article to all your child sites or to a comma-separated list of site URLs. |
| Review before publishing | Edit or delete uploaded and imported articles before they go out. Publish imported articles one at a time, or select several and use the bulk Publish action. |
| HTML in article bodies | Use HTML markup in the CSV file to add images, videos or other HTML tags to the article body. |
| Drip publishing with Post Dripper | The extension includes options for the MainWP Post Dripper Extension, which delivers posts or pages to your child sites over a pre-scheduled period instead of all at once. |

MainWP Article Uploader Extension FAQ
What file formats does the MainWP Article Uploader Extension accept?
The extension accepts TXT files for Upload Articles and TXT or CSV files for Import Articles. An upload file holds one article with only a title and content. An import file can hold several articles, each with its own fields, separated by the [NEW] tag.
Can I add images and formatting to imported articles?
Yes, you can use HTML markup in a CSV import file to format the article body with images, videos or any other HTML tags. Edit the file in a plain text or code editor, since the format uses tags at the start of each line instead of table columns.
How do I publish an article to only some of my child sites?
Set the SITES line in the import file to a comma-separated list of child site URLs, or to all. For TXT uploads, you select the child sites on the publish screen before you click Publish Articles.
Can I schedule uploaded articles to go out over time?
You can schedule uploaded articles with the MainWP Post Dripper Extension, which delivers posts or pages to your child sites over a pre-scheduled period. The Article Uploader includes Post Dripper options for this.
Do I need to install anything on my child sites?
You don’t need another plugin on your child sites. The MainWP Article Uploader Extension runs on your MainWP Dashboard and publishes to the child sites connected to it.
What do I need to pay for?
The MainWP Article Uploader Extension is part of MainWP Pro and is included in the Pro Bundle. It needs no third-party plugins. Drip publishing also needs the MainWP Post Dripper Extension, which is a Pro add-on in the Pro Bundle too.
Where do I get support?
MainWP develops the MainWP Article Uploader Extension, so MainWP support handles all questions about it.
